The Mission of CKA Youth Programs
It is the mission of CKA Youth programs to enable our Middle School and High School age teens to have fun while providing opportunities and experiences to expand their personal, social, and religious identities through programming, worship, study, acts of Tikkun Olam, and support for our fellow Jews in Israel and around the world.
NoTTY

NoTTY collage

North Texas Temple Youth (NoTTY): We are young Jews, ages 14-18 who are actively working to make our lives, our communities, and the larger world better We are also about having serious fun. In short, we are proud to be Jews.

NoTTY teens participate in social, leadership, adventure, social action, and informal education programs. NoTTY provides a unique opportunity for teen to gather in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. Innovative programming and attending regional and national events with other Jewish teens inspires us to stay invovled with Jewish life.
NoTTY Leadership
We have two co-advisors at CKA, Isaac Lee and Sabrina Rabau. Isaac, a software engineer, is himself a product of NoTTY and an Eagle Scout. Sabrina, a research biologist, helped organize and build the Hillel while she was enrolled at Quinnipiac University.

NoTTY's current president is Jordan Redwood

Two NoTTYites, Kelly Emerson and Leah Grimes, serve as Vice Presidents on the NFTY-TOR Regional Board.

KAJY
Kol Ami Junior Youth encourages CKA's pre-teens to feel more connected to their Jewishness through participation in multi-sensory Judaism-related activities utilizing worship, study and the arts, especially incorporating the concepts of tzedakah and tikkun olam; specifically fostering a strong identification with the Reform Movement via NFTY events. It also aims to implement the URJ Youth Initiative's Five Mandates for engaging post-B'nai Mitzvah youth in CKA's congregational life by:

1. Engaging Under-Engaged Teenagers
2. Integrating Formal and Informal Education
3. Re-focusing on Middle School Youth
4. Supporting NFTY and Local TYGs
5. Making Congregational Youth Workers a Priority
KAJY Leadership

Amy Wallace is our Youth Director. Herself a product of Reform youth programs, this is Amy's fifth year to be the advisor of our Kol Ami Junior Youth.

Amy says,

After 5 years, I find I am still truly touched every time I receive a small donation or a few simple words of thanks.  During the school year when I’m in the thick of things, it’s difficult to get perspective on whether our program is headed in the right direction; but these delightfully unexpected acts of menschlekeit from our families let me know that it is.  Like small beacons of light in the wilderness, they guide me on the right path.  And the largesse we’ve been fortunate to receive -- those gifts are like the manna and the water so essential to sustain us through the droughts.  To put it a simpler way:  thank you, thank you, thank you for trusting me, and supporting my desire to mentor our kids on their Jewish journey.
